The Coalition for Gender Equality was a project funded through the 2009-2014 EEA grants within the framework of the NGO Fund in Romania, Component 5: Developing the Capacity of NGOs, Networks and Coalitions.

Within the project, the informal working network "Coalition for Gender Equality" was created - a union of non-institutionalized, non-governmental organizations, open to new members, set up to promote gender equality and equal opportunity, especially through developing the capacities of the organizations and by promoting effective NGO-NGO and NGO- Public institution partnerships.

 

The Aims of the Coalition for Gender Equality:

Strengthening the Coalition by attracting new members
→ Developing the work capacities and joint intervention of member organizations in order to ensure and respect women's rights and freedoms
→ Developing common advocacy tools for member organizations
Carrying out joint actions and promoting a communal message on public issues and policies, but also on public events and international days of action on issues related to gender equality
Facilitating the transfer of good practices within the coalition
→ Supporting member organizations in local-level initiatives
Supporting non-member organizations to develop specific projects and programs by providing know-how
→ Developing the capacity of member organizations to address, integrate and respect diversity among women, taking into account criteria such as: ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age or social and economic status, etc.
→ Raising public awareness of equal opportunities for men and women, including those from different ethnic backgrounds
→ Monitoring public institutions with responsibility in the field of equal opportunities
→ Promoting a legislative framework and public policies that integrate the gender dimension at both local and national level
→ Supporting the member organizations of the Coalition in establishing/maintaining connections with the relevant institutions on both national and international levels
→ Affiliating to international networks.
